John Renbourn: Al met John after a friend of his and former band mate Isaac Guillory died.  Isaac had moved to England and was quite well regarded as an acoustic guitarist.  He and John worked together and when John came here to the US he and Al got together and swapped stories about Isaac.  John played with the seminal English folk/jazz band “Pentangle” and is a brilliant guitarist.

Steve Earle, Steve Earle Music: While Al was in the Army he was stationed in San Antonio Texas and a young (15) Steve Earle would come to a coffee house on base to see him play.  Al was the only G.I. playing there and turned Steve on to such people and things as John Prine, Steve Goodman,  The Old Town School of Folk Music and The Earl of Old Town in Chicago.  Steve thought that Al had been killed in Viet Nam and upon hearing just this year that that was not the case, the two reconnected.

Steve Gillette: Steve Gillette is a magnificent songwriter and singer and together with his wife Cindy Mangsen tour all across America.  See them when you can.

John Seay Productions:  Al’s friend and collaborator for over 30 years and a most amazing songwriter.

Steve Smith:  A great mandolin picker living in the southwest.

Jim Peterik:  Al did demo work for Jim several years ago.  Jim wrote “Eye of the Tiger” and “Vehicle” among other hits.

The Cryan' Shames:  During Al’s rock and roll days he was the drummer for the Shames.  They still play the festival circuit.  If you can, check out his drumming on the “Synthesis” album.  Brilliant!

Isaac Guillory:  Isaac played with the Cryan’ Shames.  See “John Renbourn” above.

Lenny Kerley Today, Lenny Kerley My Space Page:  Lenny also played with the Cryan’ Shames and is now a wonderful blues guitarist living in California.

Lonnie Knight:  Man, what a great guitarist/songwriter/singer.  He’s been around awhile and gets better all the time.

Clive Carroll:  Clive’s guitar playing is beyond description.  Al met him along with John Renbourn.  His first recording was calleda milestone in the journey of the steel-string guitar”.
